MATERIAL PARADISE : Is It Worth It

Wealth and Prosperity

 The Illusion of Happiness

" Amidst the chaos and the rush of life,

Humans strive for wealth, and all its strife.

A world of goods, a world of gain,

Where success is measured in material chains.

Sacrifices made along the way,

Of morals, ethics, and values they say.

A hunger for wealth that never ends,

And relationships that they forget to tend.

The nights they spend toiling away,

Ignoring their loved ones who beg them to stay.

Money becomes their only drive,

And in their greed, they barely survive.

The cost of wealth is often high,

As they trade their soul for it and sigh.

Their conscience may be set aside,

But at what cost do they choose to abide?

Material gains come and go,

But what of the seeds of love they sow?

For in their quest to amass more,

They forget the beauty that life has in store.

Wealth may provide comfort and ease,

But not the joy that true love can please.

And in the end, all that remains,

Is the price they paid for material gains.

So let us not forget the price,

That we pay for material paradise.

For in our journey to gain more,

Let us not lose what we treasure and adore."

The Sacrifices for Material Paradise

The desire for material possessions and wealth has been a common aspiration among humans for centuries. However, the price that people pay to achieve these material possessions is often much higher than they realise. It's not just a matter of spending money or working long hours; it's a matter of sacrificing their health, relationships, and overall well-being.

IS IT WORTH IT

The pursuit of material happiness has been ingrained in our society for centuries. We are bombarded with messages that tell us that success and happiness are directly tied to our wealth and possessions. This can lead to a belief that the more money we have, the happier we will be. However, research has shown that this is not true. In fact, people who prioritise material possessions over other aspects of life tend to be less happy and more anxious than those who focus on other sources of happiness.

Many people work long hours to earn more money, sacrificing their time with family and friends, their hobbies, and their health and often compromise their relationships. Focused on achieving material success may make them experience stress and burnout, which can lead to a variety of health problems, they may fall into a cycle of debt or struggle to keep up with your expenses, leading to financial instability, they may also lose touch with their values and their sense of self. They forget what truly matters to them and become consumed by their desire for material possessions.

But why are people still attracted to material things?  Many people believe that owning expensive possessions will elevate their social status and make them more respected by others. they may experience a sense of pleasure from owning and buying new possessions, which can create a temporary feeling of happiness. Some  may view material possessions as a way to feel more secure and stable in life, believing that having more possessions will provide them with a safety net in case of emergencies. they may also be attracted because they fear missing out on what others have or fear not being able to keep up with societal expectations.

Although there is nothing wrong with striving for financial stability but the problem arises when people place too much emphasis on material possessions and sacrifice their well-being and relationships to achieve them. Instead you should choose to spend time with your loved ones, invest in friendships and self growth, prioritise human connections and  practice gratitude for the things that bring you joy and happiness.
